Pigeon John claims that his stage name was provided by Jesus who was driving around Inglewood: "He hopped out and handed me a dead pigeon. The friend's mother then interjected that John didn't look like a chicken, claiming that he looked like a pigeon and should therefore be called "Pigeon John".Brainwash Projects contributed the single "Muchas Muchachas" to the Christian rap compilation "Sanktifunctafyd" released by N-Soul Records in 1995.I cannot recommend this album in good conscience to my youth group kids, or my own kids for that matter. Granted, it's MUCH better than a 50 cent, or Jay-Z, but I would have a few calls if parents found out I recommended an album with “piss”, or phrases like “where the hell is my crew? I think the album is a classic, just not a classic I can recommend to my church youth. For the next several years, he grew and learned how to truly rock any crowd, whether it be hip hop or punk rock, he would adapt and relate to them with honesty. Along with 6 LAS songs, Pigeon John's song, "Identity Crisis" can be heard on the XBOX games, "Project Gotham" and "NBA Inside Drive 2002".
Between 19, Pigeon John recorded the songs that became his first solo album, Is Clueless. He reveals all the insecurity, pain, joy and laughter that goes into a vibrant life. His stories can touch the listener and his jokes would make him the life of any party. The album was released in 2001 by The Telephone Company and then re-released in 2002 by The Telephone Company/Syntax Records with three new tracks and new artwork.Pigeon John then signed to Basement Records and released Is Dating Your Sister (2003) and Pigeon John Sings the Blues (2005).
Tracks that stood out the most to me (it's hard to say that because each one does) were: "Identity Crisis", "Emily", "Hello", and "Sam the Goat".
